Stanthorpe has endless delights for the nature lover.
The Quart Pot Creek walking track showcases the changing seasonal landscape of the town and is a beautiful setting for a morning or afternoon stroll.
Girraween national park has walking tracks suitable for all abilities, swimming holes for summer, BBQ and picnic facilities and the challenging Pyramid walk for the adventurous.
Bald Rock national park, Sundown national park, Boonoo Boonoo National Park all are within driving distance and feature nature walks and climbs, swimming holes and BBQ facilities.
Stanthorpe also hosts a weekly Parkrun event Saturday mornings at 7am starting from Gleeson Park, Talc St.
Wineries and Eateries
In Stanthorpe you are spoilt for choice with approximately 50 wineries offering a diverse range of drops to suit all tastes. A number of wineries also serve delicious food and offer entertainment to feed all of your senses.
If you are not a wine fan, Stanthorpe also is also home to several breweries, distilleries and a cidery.
Apples, stonefruit and berries abound and can be found at local fruit shops as well as numerous roadside stalls. Some farms offer pick-your-own experiences when in season.
Stanthorpe also boasts numerous cafes, restaurants and eateries to suit all tastes and budgets.
Local Events and Attractions
The Apple and Grape Harvest Festival is Stanthorpe’s premiere event and one of the longest running harvest festivals in Queensland. It is a biennial event running every second year (even years) on the first weekend of March. It showcases the region’s delicious produce and booming wine industry and attracts tens of thousands of visitors to each event.
The Snowflakes festival occurs in the alternate (odd) years and is held in July, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the state to experience the delights of winter in the coldest place in Queensland.
The Stanthorpe Museum and the Amiens Legacy Centre are wonderful places to visit to learn about the history of the town and region.
The Railway organic markets are held every Saturday morning for fresh produce and treats, and local artisans present their wares at the Market in the Mountains on the second Sunday of every month.
